Message to clients

Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am passionate about working with teens, young adults, and adults looking to heal from trauma, ptsd, and complex-ptsd, anxiety and burn out, codependency, people pleasing, perfectionism, or those interested in shifting their relationship with alcohol.

I love to empower and challenge my clients to achieve their best, heal from the past, and develop new more helpful ways to cope with emotions and difficulties. I believe in working together to help you become a more confident and authentic version of yourself, empowering you to prioritize your own needs. To me, it's about finding a combination of developing insight into how your past impacts present patterns, while also focusing on the here and now and taking action toward change.

I take a trauma-informed, somatic, holistic, compassionate, and relational approach as a therapist. So my first priority will always be developing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship between us. Then I am happy to integrate modalities like EMDR, somatic exercises, mindfulness based skills, mindful self compassion, DBT skills, or work on shifting thinking patterns. We will look at your whole self including your mental and emotional health, physical health, social health, professional health, and spiritual.

In our first session, together we will explore your history and whats bringing you to therapy and then collaboratively tailor individualized treatment goals to make sure we are meeting your needs. Please note I am fully virtual and sessions are 50 mins.

I look forward to connecting!

We will explore your relationship to alcohol and where it started, discuss if harm-reduction/mindful drinking or abstinence is appropriate, and develop new coping skills and self-care foundations.

Anxiety - Anxiety can look like excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder), physical symptoms, impending sense of doom. We will work together to get to the root cause of your anxiety, develop new ways to cope and manage, and use holistic practices, mindfulness skills, trauma informed interventions, and CBT if needed.

Codependency - You may struggle with codependency f you put other people before yourself, are unsure of what your needs are, people please, difficulty with boundary setting, low self worth, sense of self comes from helping other people, neglect of self, harsh inner critic, frequent feelings of guilt, shame, and anxiety. Together we will explore where it came from, develop your internal sense of worth, learn what your needs are to start putting them first, practice self compassion, and set boundaries.

Perfectionism - Coping with feelings of anxiety, stress, self-criticism, and procrastination; addressing unrealistic expectations of one’s self and negatively comparing self to others. We will work together to understand how this developed, improve your self compassion practice and self esteem, and shift negative core beliefs.

Trauma - All forms of emotional, physical, sexual, relational trauma, and PTSD. After working to develop a safe and trusting strong relationship, I will provide psychoeducation on trauma responses, use somatic strategies and teach skills to regulate your emotions, and work together to heal past trauma. Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) - C-PTSD is prolonged & ongoing exposure to a traumatic environment or multiple traumas over time. This can mimic symptoms of ptsd as well as show up in difficult interpersonal relationships, shame, and challenges with emotion regulation.
