Heather Edwards is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified Coach in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. She is an expert in trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, and relationships.
Heather is Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which helps unblock and release painful memories, leading to more rapid recovery from emotionally charged experiences. She uses EMDR for trauma, procrastination, self-esteem, assertiveness, binge eating disorders, limiting beliefs, fears, and phobias.
In her work with couples, Heather works to uncover patterns, power dynamics, and the root causes of conflict. In these sessions, she also explores with clients what each person is bringing into therapy from their family of origin. Through this process, love, empathy, and active communication become the new normal.
Heather’s style is integrative, drawing from the best of several approaches including Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, CBT, and Humanistic Psychology. She values her client’s perspective and always meets them where they are in an open, curious, and nonjudgmental way. Heather follows her clients’ lead, helping them understand and overcome obstacles.
Heather offers a safe space for clients to work through their experiences and better understand themselves and others. She works collaboratively to empower clients as they move through the future with confidence and joy. She looks forward to meeting you at her office right next door to the 33rd Street subway station.
