Professional statement

Jesse Lainer-Vos is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, having earned her Masters at Columbia University. She is currently offering Telehealth video and phone sessions for adults and couples.

Jesse enjoys working with clients experiencing life transitions, particularly around the transition to college and adulthood, parenthood, and issues that arrive in mid-life. She helps clients facing challenges that include anxiety, depression, current and past family issues, inner conflict, and relationship struggles.

As a psychotherapist, Jesse provides a non-judgmental and safe space for individuals and couples to share, reflect, and process their experiences. She encourages individuals and couples to focus on their strengths and resources, historical patterns in their relationships, and who they want to become.

Jesse’s therapeutic perspective takes into account a client’s social context, culture, and societal messages, as well as personal history, family, and sense of self. Jesse believes growth occurs when therapists and clients collaborate to open space for new possibilities.

Since 2011, Jesse has been a clinical supervisor of Marriage and Family Therapy trainees and interns at the Southern California Counseling Center.

Message to clients

Life can be challenging, especially with so much uncertainty in the world today. My goal as a therapist is to provide a space where it is safe to reflect upon the conflicts and struggles presented in your everyday life. My approach to psychotherapy is to see everyone as distinctive and unique. Curiosity is my most fundamental and powerful tool as a therapist.

Through interactive therapeutic conversations, we address problems such as couples conflict, addiction issues, and the challenge that depression, anger, anxiety and low self-esteem can bring to one’s life. We explore ways of diminishing the effects of these issues and work to build new ways to cope with emotions and stress, and to foster stronger relationships with others and oneself.

Finding a therapist can be difficult, but it is also a brave and necessary step for moving forward and feeling better. I welcome any questions you may have before starting.
