Professional statement

Dr. Jessica Bianchi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Art Therapist providing mental health services for individual adults and couples in her private practice in Echo Park, Los Angeles. Many of Jessica’s clients come to her after making a decision to confront persistent feelings of anxiety and depression that stand in the way of joy, fulfillment, and connection. Jessica works with many clients that are in life transition or that have a desire to make change; for example changes in work/career, beginning/ending a relationship, or changing family dynamics. Additionally, Jessica sees many individuals who have experienced early relational trauma such as growing up with a caregiver with mental illness or struggles with substance abuse.

Jessica's therapeutic approach is eclectic and focused on her clients needs. Jessica combines cognitive behavioral therapy with solution focused approaches and narrative inquiry. Meaning there is a combination of exploring how thoughts are related to feelings and behaviors, whether behaviors are operating in a way that is helpful and exploring stories we tell ourselves about what we “should” or “should not” be doing. Additionally, Jessica supports these therapeutic approaches with specialized training in art therapy, an evidence-based mental health service that integrates image making into the therapeutic process in order to access and explore new ways of being from different perspectives.

You can expect Jessica to be very communicative, collaborative, creative and most importantly client centered. Jessica strives to create a warm and empathetic environment where clients can feel comfortable taking positive risks towards emotional growth and letting Jessica know what is and is not helpful in their work together.

Jessica offers a free 30 minute consultation so that potential clients can see if she is a good fit for their needs. She is available to meet virtually Mondays, Thursdays and by appointment.

Message to clients

Feeling lost, overwhelmed and stuck in repetitive patterns can happen to anyone. Sometimes just having the space to name how you feel can really start a process of change. I am compassionate, collaborative, and creative. I work with you at your pace to build insights and awareness into your experiences in order to make choices using talk therapy and/or art therapy.

In addition to being a licensed marriage and family therapist and board certified art therapist, I also have a teaching background and tend to take a creative and educational approach to our work together, working with you collaboratively to learn why you think and feel the way you do. From here we can determine if these thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are building you up or holding you back and thus how we might make some changes.

My number one goal is to listen to you- helping you organize and clarify your thoughts with talk therapy and/or art therapy, tools, strategies and resources to be used in between sessions. I am patient and make it a priority to create a warm and empathetic environment where we can work together to name how you feel and from here create a plan for change.
