Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTHe/Him/His
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFTJose Pinal is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Tracy, CA. Jose is passionate about affirming clients’ feelings, beliefs, values, and desires. He is a sex therapist that works with clients who would like to explore their sexuality, kink, and internalized messages about sex. He often works with couples who would like to grow their relationships, both sexual and emotional. These couples might feel stuck in their routines or stuck in conflict, leading them to reach out to Jose for guidance on how to deepen their bonds. Jose also enjoys working with clients who have sex addictions, including porn addiction. He offers a compassionate, validating space for clients to talk openly about what they want and what isn’t working for them. Jose also works with clients who suffer from depression or anxiety.
Jose’s approach to working with clients begins by creating a non judgmental rapport with them. He helps clients identify their motivations for wanting change, as well as how ready they are to make those changes. Jose also encouraged clients to consider what messages they’ve internalized about how to live life, including but not limited to their sex lives. Clients learn how to assess their thoughts for assumptions or self-criticism, which can hold them back from feeling present or engaged. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), clients practice replacing harmful thoughts with healthier alternatives. Jose helps them set goals for themselves and work towards those goals step-by-step.
Jose earned a Master’s degree from Alliant International University. He has nearly 10 years of experience supporting clients’ mental health. His background includes extensive work with youth in the juvenile justice and foster care systems. His style is practical yet positive as he gently challenges clients to enhance their lives through focusing on their mental health.
