Kimberly DeJong is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate located in Fort Collins, CO. She works with individuals of all ages ranging from teenagers to older adults who would like to move past the anxiety or depression that holds them back from feeling present in their lives. Many of Kimberly’s clients experience low self-esteem as a result of their mental health challenges, which can lead to feeling distressed in social situations. Kimberly also helps individuals with ADHD, as well as those who need support navigating a major life transition.
Kimberly utilizes several evidence-based therapy modalities in her work with clients. She helps clients to explore their inner worlds through psychodynamic approaches, guiding clients through introspection. Clients begin to connect their experiences and beliefs to their current stressors or relationships, which can help them figure out where change needs to happen. Kimberly is also a trained yoga instructor and Reiki master. She enjoys incorporating elements of Eastern philosophy into sessions through mindfulness practices, and encourages clients to begin noticing what’s happening for them internally. Sessions might include conversations about the life’s meaning and purpose as clients to get to know themselves on a deeper level.
Kimberly earned a Master’s degree from Colorado State University. She believes in the power of positive psychology and teaches clients the tools they need to feel balanced and well. She also enjoys showing clients their own innate strength, growing their self-compassion.
