Professional statement

Lisa Kirkland is a registered Associate Marriage Family Therapy located in Redlands, CA. Lisa works with clients across the age span, from childhood to adulthood, who would like to address the negative impacts of stress, loss, grief, or trauma. Lisa specializes in supporting mothers and birthing people and their families with perinatal and postpartum issues, including birth trauma. As a doula, she understands that becoming a parent and growing a family comes with many complex emotions, and she strives to give her clients a safe space to talk about what’s on their mind.

Lisa’s approach to therapy draws heavily from mindfulness based practices. Clients learn how to grow their self-awareness and focus their attention on thought patterns, feelings, and the motivations behind their behaviors. For clients who would like to process through painful memories of traumatic experiences, Lisa facilitates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. She is a trauma-informed and strengths-based therapist who believes that a strong relationship between client and therapist is essential for the success of the client.

Lisa earned her Master’s degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She is a member of the EMDR International Association. She is also a speaker who educates others about addressing and reducing childbirth-related maternal trauma.

Lisa offers warm, collaborative therapy for clients both in-person and virtually as they process through their feelings and find a more comfortable balance in their lives.

Message to clients

Greetings! Are you feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed? Have you been struggling to be present in your life? Are you looking for proven and effective ways to heal past trauma? Could you use the support of someone who truly understands pregnancy and postpartum issues? Contact me to set up your free consultation appointment and let's see if I can help.

A little about me and how I work: I take a mindfulness-based, integrative approach to psychotherapy. We will work together to identify your personal strengths and values, challenge negative thoughts and core beliefs, and transform suffering and trauma by reconnecting to your truest Self.

I am a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapist, and I specialize in childbirth-related trauma and perinatal mental health and wellbeing for parents and families. Therapies we may utilize during your session can include mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), compassion-focused therapy, EMDR therapy, and narrative therapy.

I strive to provide an empathetic and compassionate atmosphere that empowers clients to learn about themselves, grow, and improve the quality of their lives. I look forward to hearing from you and starting our work together.
