Professional statement

Lydia Gordon received her MSW from New York University and is a Licensed Master of Social Work in New York and New Jersey. She specializes in working with individuals navigating difficult life transitions, feelings of being “stuck” or in a rut, and those wanting to improve their relationships. Lydia strives to practice through an anti-oppressive framework and enjoys working with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds.

With education in approaches ranging from psychoanalysis and CBT to mindfulness-based approaches and Reiki, Lydia blends scientific and spiritual-based modalities to create treatment plans that effectively address individual needs on a mind, body, and spirit basis.

Message to clients

My approach is warm yet direct. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I will ask you hard questions, challenge existing beliefs, and help you uncover and address what’s preventing you from living a more satisfying and fulfilling life. I pull from a variety of healing modalities, from journaling to guided meditation and breathwork, and will incorporate these as well as the option of “homework” whenever we find it appropriate.

We’re all part of larger interconnected systems (families, communities, cultures, and societies) and I believe it is vital to consider these elements in our work together. Whether it’s harmful family dynamics or systemic oppression, I help you identify what isn’t within your control and harness what is. Together we learn how you can better navigate the reality of the world we live in and shed self-blame for things that are not yours to hold onto.

I provide you with tools to trust your intuition and grow self confidence and self-understanding. With a stronger sense of self, you will move toward your goals with more confidence and improve your relationship with yourself and others.

**I will begin offering in-person sessions in March 2024**
