Marcella Haro is a psychotherapist in East Hollywood, CA. She works with adults of all ages from young adults to those in their fifties and beyond. Many of Marcella’s clients come in to address their struggles with anxiety, depression, and the ways in which they cope that may be getting in the way of living a fulfilled life such as substance use, unhealthy relationships, and disordered eating.
Marcella is trained in psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalytic therapy. Her aim is to help her clients identify unconscious motivations for repeating unhealthy patterns that contribute to their anxiety and depression, and a tendency to turn to coping skills that are harmful in the long term. In session, Marcella focuses on exploring thoughts and beliefs and how these came to be. She believes that getting to the heart of the matter provides relief that goes beyond merely teaching coping skills. This approach allows clients to be able to let go of situations that no longer serve them, notice greater agency in their life decisions, and reduce their feelings of stress and guilt.
Marcella's style is challenging, non-judgmental, and thought-provoking. When clients first start therapy, she creates space to allow them to tell their story and their understanding of it.
Marcella received her MA from Antioch University. She has worked at Valley Community Counseling Clinic where she gained additional training on working with the unconscious. Outside of private practice, Marcella is an avid reader and patron of the arts. Marcella currently offers telehealth sessions only.
