Dr. Marissa Tunis a CA and NY licensed clinical psychologist who provides both online and in-person individual, couples, and family therapy. Dr. Tunis helps her clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief and panic; uniquely, she specializes in helping clients navigate these and other difficulties within the context of their relationships and family dynamics. Her approach is exploratory and directive, meaning she both helps you develop insight into your problems while giving you tools and directions as needed.
More niche specialities include dating anxiety, break-up recovery, pet loss and psychedelic integration. Dr. Tunis helps clients who are deeply grieving or held back from painful anxiety. Making sense of painful experiences and moving on to a more full life is the core of her practice.
Dr. Tunis believes in unconditional positive regard of her clients, and she connects with warmth, non-judgment, humor and authenticity. She is dedicated to helping clients realize that they are capable of healing and able to enjoy their lives and relationships again.
A particular interest is working with clients who have worked with other therapists prior but have not yet reached full symptom resolution. With a multi-modal and integrative approach, she draws on many treatment modalities, such as: EMDR, IFS, Cog-B, Gottman Method and includes lifestyle changes and creating routines, to help her clients find true relief and bring joy back to their lives.
With an office located in Westwood, Los Angeles, Dr. Tunis is a trauma, grief and couples therapist who provides service both in office and online. She uses tele-health to work with NY clients. She accepts credit and debit cards and provides Superbills for clients to submit to their insurance for reimbursement.
