Professional statement

Melissa Perry is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adolescent and adult individuals. Many people who seek therapy are often looking to reduce stress, process trauma, and integrate a sense of balance and purpose into their lives. If you are feeling stuck in your life, therapy can help.

Melissa considers the needs and personalities of her clients, then utilizes a therapeutic modality that will complement a client's inherent strengths. The treatment approaches she tends to lean towards are Narrative Therapy, CBT for skill-building, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, and neuroscience for self-regulation and co-regulation. Melissa is a client-centered therapist who views her clients from a Strengths-Based lens. Melissa understands the struggles and gifts of highly sensitive people. She works to support personal development by identifying patterns and areas of potential growth. Melissa values lifelong learning and stays current with the evolutions in treatment in the field of psychology.

Aligning to who you are authentically helps foster more meaning in our lives. Melissa is deeply curious and motivated to support her clients so they are able to feel more confident and comfortable in the world. Melissa has two office locations in Marin and also offers online therapy.

Message to clients

Having a space during the week where you can fully be present with yourself and with someone who has your best interests in mind is an invaluable gift you can offer yourself or someone you care about. I have a warm, gentle, and interactive approach to therapy and it's likely we will find some humor as we work together. You are the expert on yourself but with support, we can work together to establish your objectives for therapy and work towards them. It's always an honor to work with clients. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about therapy and consider your own needs. I offer a sliding scale so please don't hesitate to ask.
