Professional statement

Orliyah Finnegan is a psychotherapist with 18 years of experience serving NY, CA and WA state. She works with individuals, couples and families who seek new ways of thinking and behaving. Orliyah listens to what you have to say and what you aren't saying. She challenges you in an empathic and non-judgmental way to help you see yourself from a different perspective.

In her treatment philosophy, Orliyah primarily uses a Solution-Focused approach, which involves therapist and client working together to facilitate gains towards change. Part of that process uncovers false self-beliefs, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are her go-to approaches to help empower new ways of thinking and behaving.

Specializations includes trauma work, anxiety and depression, family issues and life transitions. If you are a client who has a history of abuse or neglect, Orliyah employs the parts work concept of Internal Family Systems (IFS) to uncover fragmented parts of the self in an effort to integrate a fully functional self. For those seeking assistance with anxiety, Orliyah is a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional as well as a nationally registered Art Therapist who combines art therapy with psychoeducation.

Currently, only telehealth sessions are available and she is accepting new clients.

Message to clients

If you are reading this, you have already taken the first step to enhance that part of you that knows life can feel and be better. First-time online consultations are free and last 20 minutes. There is no obligation to continue beyond the initial introduction.

We may be a good fit, and I am the right therapist for you if you are not intimidated by "tough love" approaches where I will ask questions and be curious about what's really going on, while acting ethically and professionally to guide you effectively. As a client, you are equally curious and open to admitting what is no longer working for you.

Once we establish a working relationship, a 90-minute intake session is scheduled. This first session includes information gathering regarding what brings you to therapy as well as defining what the end of your therapeutic experience may look like, leaving you with a treatment plan that feels right for you.

Call or Text if you have any questions or comments. I am available at the hours listed on the page.

Hope to meet you soon!
