Professional statement

As an intersectional feminist, Paula enjoys helping people of many different racial backgrounds and gender identities find and feel confidence, which she believes happens when people practice these two qualities simultaneously: self-love and human-kindness.

Paula’s specialties are: helping people rise out of low self-confidence, navigating life transitions, and moving through depression. She uses an eclectic mix of healing modalities, teaching mindfulness and radical self-acceptance in combination with honoring cultural-competence, and utilizing strength-based and psychodynamic theories.

She, herself, actively practices compassion, mindfulness, and loving-awareness. These practices both inspire and illuminate her clinical perspective. She enjoys helping people to strengthen their sense of confidence through the mindfulness and self-compassion.

Paula is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas and a graduate of Smith College School for Social Work, where she received training to develop and implement her commitment to anti-racism in her clinical work and in her life, which continues to evolve and inform her practice.

Message to clients

It can be healing to share your story with someone who truly listens with compassion, someone who can relate objectively and non-judgmentally, someone who can hold space for and be with all emotions, even those that seem intense, overwhelming, and scary. It can be life-changing simply to have a space and time once a week that is just for and about you, a space that is safe and welcomes all aspects of who you are, even those that you feel you can’t show to anyone else, a space that honors imperfection and encourages humanity, a space in which you aren’t alone.

In our work together, I help you develop and grow your senses of awareness and compassion. You will have the space to explore hidden, hurting, or suppressed parts of yourself, which can help to heal and shed feelings and perspectives of judgment and shame within. Through this work, I guide and challenge you to practice different ways of self-love and human-kindness, so that you can experience, enjoy, and trust the most confident version of yourself.
