He has advanced training in the areas of PTSD, anxiety, self-esteem, childhood trauma, and attachment.

Dr. Salerno is trained in psychodynamic therapy, attachment therapy, trauma-informed therapy, including EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, and incorporates existential and narrative approaches in which he promotes healing by helping clients develop insight into how their past limits their present. In session, Dr. Salerno focuses on identifying therapy goals through a variety of evidence-based techniques. His approach is nonjudgmental, empowering, and liberating.

He is an animal rights activist and loves all animals, especially his dogs. Dr. Salerno offers both in-person and remote therapy sessions. Message to clients

I don’t consider my clients to be “disordered” or “dysfunctional” because I believe that everyone can live well and can live the life they truly want to live. This has been proven over and over again in my work. Oftentimes, unhelpful patterns and habits make lasting positive changes difficult to achieve on our own, but when we need a bit of assistance to get started, psychotherapy is a great resource that can become a meaningful and liberating experience. Believe it or not, it can also be quite fun to learn how to increase your confidence, heal from the past, and feel the way you want to feel. It’s quite empowering when things actually work out, and they can.

I’m very skilled at offering alternative perspectives about life experiences and at reframing unhelpful perceptions of self, others, and the world, and I find that my clients are very grateful for this.

I look forward to hearing your story
