Sara Rothstein (she, her), MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC is a licensed creative arts psychotherapist in Brooklyn, NY. She practices in person and virtually. Sara's work values the client's intuition while holding and guiding the work to help make it fruitful. She helps clients build awareness in their bodies to enhance their emotion vocabulary and create interventions for themselves. They might then note the noise and clutter of the mind and feel a more centered approach to living.
Trained as an art therapist at Pratt Institute in 2005, Sara has worked with children, families, and parents ever since. She has also worked with immigrants populations, earning the Taconic Fellowship to support this population through weaving. Sara integrates the arts as a healing modality to help repattern the brain, while incorporating movement, breath and talking as well as other tools, as needed. She assists clients in working through stagnations or life phases. Clients describe Sara as warm and direct. Her work is creative and engaging. Her approaches include attachment history, interpersonal awareness, sense of authentic self, and mind-body awareness.
Sara's office is located in her art and weaving wellness studio in Brooklyn, in the therapy practice called Art of Parenting, which she co-found in 2008. Her psychotherapy practice is for more than parents; we are all children. She is passionate about supporting adults of all ages build awareness and create self-ease as they navigate and find their place in this world.
