Certification in Perinatal Mental Health, PMH-C Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCTory works with individual adults of all ages, anyone seeking a more compassionate and kind relationship with themselves. Many of Tory’s clients come in to address anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, and maternal mental health (both pre and postnatal). She also has advanced training in the area of Major depressive disorder, Generalized anxiety disorder, trauma, panic disorder, postpartum depression, and postpartum anxiety.
Tory is trained in holistic, narrative, somatic, attachment based, and feminist therapies. Within these modalities the therapist meets the person where they’re at with the understanding and respect that they are a whole, multilayered person and helps the client recognize that the way we speak about ourselves and our experiences has an impact. We utilize ancient wisdom from nature respecting that humans are animals and our feelings and thoughts are connected throughout the entire body; we utilize neuroscience to better understand our inner experiences and reactions in relation to the nervous system. Within attachment therapy and feminist therapy, Tory prioritizes building a strong therapeutic relationship with trust that can heal past attachment ruptures and always holds the link between a client's wellness and their social, cultural, and political identities and experiences.
These therapeutic approaches support clients to be able to set healthy boundaries with others in their lives, feel empowered and find strength within, be compassionate towards themselves and prioritize their needs. Clients will also better understand the way their body and nervous system work, and know how to support those systems; they will be able to trust in the tools they've learned to cope with times of high anxiety, panic, or depression, and they will learn to love themselves.
