PVD Psychological Associates (PVD Psych) is a private psychology practice located on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island in College Hill and Wayland Square. We offer in person therapy, comprehensive neuropsychological testing, and achievement testing to individuals who visit our RI offices. We also offer online therapy to individuals located in RI, MA, NY, FL, and PSYPACT participating states. Therapists in our group specialize in student mental health, ADHD, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety disorders, relationship difficulties, and LGBTQIA+ concerns.
We prioritize providing therapy and testing that is culturally sensitive, neuroaffirming, trauma informed, and Queer affirming.

Our mission is to provide the greater Rhode Island area with exceptional therapy and testing. We understand that every individual client, session, and situation is unique. We offer individual therapy and neuropsychological testing for adolescents, college students, and adults of all ages.
PVD Psych is a LGBTQIA Affirming practice. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to safe, respectful, and affirming, high quality care.
Everyone on our team is trained in evidence based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy. Some of us have specialized training in other types of therapy such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), internal family systems therapy (IFS), and prolonged exposure (PE).
Everything we do is designed to give you the best possible therapy and/or testing experience. Our team is comprised of highly trained, experienced therapists and select exceptional trainees. We understand the importance of matching therapeutic style to the particular needs of each client, and are able to do this as we intentionally have created a team of therapists with different specialties and approaches.
Most of the therapists at PVD Psychological Associates are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (commercial plans only; not community or Medicare). Some of our therapists are in network with the Brown University Student Insurance. We also accept United Healthcare Student Resources plans. Lastly, a couple of our providers are in network with Optum/United Healthcare.
If you do not have one of these insurances, we are happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork to seek reimbursement.

Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
College and graduate student mental health - Specialized strategies for common issues of young adulthood, including school and career stressors, support around healthy relationships, existential concerns, drug or alcohol issues, eating disorders, and anxiety and/or depression
Neuropsychological testing - Evaluations of general brain functioning, as well as assessment for changes or impairments. Typically involves an interview, as well as series of tests.
Working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community - Exploring topics of sexuality, gender, and identity; coping with discrimination and oppression; navigating relationship, family, and cultural challenges
Eating disorders - Reducing unhealthy eating patterns, beliefs, and behaviors, such as restricting, purging, and binging; healing the emotional pain surrounding disordered eating
Relationship difficulties - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
