Professional statement

Branwen OShea-Refai is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who welcomes adolescents and adults to her private practice in Bethany, CT. As a therapist and yoga teacher, Branwen is uniquely skilled in supporting clients to harness the power of the mind-body connection and heal anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and loss. As a writer, she also has extensive experience helping individuals who struggle with their creativity or who need guidance in balancing their artistic passions with their day-to-day lives. She works with teens and adults across the lifespan.

Branwen takes a holistic approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices. She believes that everyone, regardless of their past trauma, can learn skills to better their lives and form healthy relationships. Her sessions are client-led and focused on the symptoms causing you problems in the present moment.

Branwen teaches her clients how to trust themselves and supports them on their path toward healing and growth. Before working in private practice, she worked at Bridges Mental Health Clinic and Saratoga County Day Treatment Center. She received her MSW from SUNY Albany. She looks forward to meeting you.

Message to clients

Finding the right therapist makes all the difference, so here’s a few things about how I work. I believe in basic kindness and honesty and that all people are incredible in their own way. I will work as hard as you want at the pace you want, or take things really slowly if the idea of therapy makes you nervous. Whatever your pace, I will also remind you to have fun along the way, because a big part of healing is reconnecting with the small joys and humorous moments of life.
