Professional statement

Carolyn Spurway is a counselor in Denver, CO. She works with adults of all ages, and is licensed to see clients in many states including Colorado, Michigan, Texas, Illinois, Kansas, and Massachusetts. Carolyn’s clients value her expertise in working with anxiety, attachment wounds, eating disorders, life transitions, relationship issues, and challenges with assertiveness and self-worth. Carolyn is particularly passionate about serving those open to exploring health and healing from a holistic perspective.

Carolyn is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), EFT Tapping, health coaching, psycho-spiritual therapy, energy work, and intuitive healing. Carolyn will use the therapeutic relationship to look at how patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating no longer serve you, and will support you in shifting them into new ways of being. In session, Carolyn focuses on guiding you towards insights and actions that are aligned with your greatest growth opportunities, while also incorporating nervous system regulation strategies to ground you and support healthy processing of difficult emotions and experiences. This approach allows clients to feel more aligned, comfortable and present.

Carolyn's style is warm, engaging, grounded, and collaborative. When clients first start therapy, she will work to understand each client's experiences and goals, while establishing trust and comfort to ensure you feel heard and understood.

Carolyn received her MA in Counseling from University of Colorado Denver. She has worked in a variety of clinical behavioral health settings, ranging from inpatient to outpatient, and with individuals, families, and couples. Outside of private practice, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and children.

Message to clients

We often lean on strategies that help us survive difficult situations, but these same strategies can later become barriers to joy and fulfillment. When we're stuck in these old patterns, the task of creating and welcoming the life we deeply want can feel monumental. My goal is to walk beside you in the process of opening to more of your authentic self-energy and to what brings you peace and joy, while healing and releasing the patterns that no longer serve you.

It is my honor to create the therapeutic container from which wholeness and healthy empowerment can be cultivated, so that you get to see exactly how brave and resilient you truly are.
