Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCNicholas Beard is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Conroe, TX. Nicholas works with teenagers, young adults, and adults to improve their mental health. He offers individual, couples, and family therapy to help clients build strong and meaningful connections with others. He also supports clients when they struggle with academic stress, burnout from a challenging career, grief from the loss of a loved one, issues with body image and self-esteem, or the stress of becoming a new parent. He is particularly passionate about working with the LGBTQIA community.
Nicholas’ approach to therapy draws from mindfulness practice and centering each session on the clients’ needs. Clients learn how to be self-aware and to identify their feelings, which they can talk about in the safety of a welcoming, compassionate therapy session. Nicholas teaches clients mindfulness exercises like body scans or visualizations that can be helpful to reconnect with their bodies, which is often helpful when working through high levels of stress. Nicholas also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a therapy modality that breaks harmful thought patterns like self-criticism or judgment. Nicholas provides a warm space for clients to openly talk about their self-image, and addresses the harsh self-talk that leads to low self-esteem. He provides clients with coping skills to process through issues of gender identity, addiction, or eating disorders.
Nicholas earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Northern Arizona University. He has nearly ten years of experience working with clients, including couples and families, through difficult times. He strives to build a trusting relationship with each of his clients so they can get through the challenges that life throws at them.
