Professional statement

Tanya Desloover is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. Tanya specializes in helping clients and their families recover from the traumatic consequences of substance use disorders/addiction. She recognizes the importance of identifying and treating the underlying co-occurring disorders, such as anxiety, depression, codependency, trauma, grieving, and life transitioning, which accompany alcohol/addiction. As Clinical Director at a Southern California treatment facility for the past several years, she realized the need for support of the whole family, before, during, and/or following treatment.

Currently, Tanya works with all kinds of clients and couples, not just those with substance use disorders, looking to improve their relationships with themselves and/or others. Attachment ruptures frame her perspective to help her clients free themselves from feeling like a victim of their circumstances to becoming empowered.

Tanya uses CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), psychodynamic and solution focused therapies. Most importantly, Tanya is also a certified EMDR therapist, and with a focus on attachment ruptures, compassionately joins with her clients to help them conquer their fears, and connect with their courageous selves to overcome their past…healing historical traumatic events, including shame and loss. She does not believe a person needs to be seen for years of therapy to be okay with themselves.

Message to clients

If you are looking for support and guidance to resolve issues which have left you feeling powerless or if you are just hitting a rough spot in your life, I believe that through therapeutic approaches, together we can conquer your fears to resolve issues from your past that are contributing to behavior patterns (e.g., anxiety, depression) and negative perceptions keeping you from feeling empowered.

I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. I am passionate about partnering with clients so they can become empowered to become their authentic selves. As a certified EMDR therapist, my perspective is helping clients get past their limiting beliefs, negative thoughts and feelings about themselves.
