Professional statement

Claudia Dommaschk is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. She has offered individual therapy and couple's counseling to adults on a wide range of psychological issues for the over 25 years.

After years of seeing clients in her office, Claudia moved her practice online and now works with clients throughout California. Although she understands that in-person therapy is not only desirable but clinically necessary under certain cirumstances, Claudia finds that many people enjoy the flexibility and privacy that teletherapy affords them. For this reason, she conducts an initial evaluation to not only make sure teletherapy is suitable, but also that she has the expertise to address the issues at hand. If, at any point, she or her client believes another therapist or treatment approach is more appropriate, she makes the referral at that time.

Potential clients can rest assured that Claudia's primary concern is to make sure her clients get the help they need.

Message to clients

Everything we do happens here and now, whether it is reflecting on the past, anticipating the future, or simply engaging in the present. In essence, life is a series of moments so how we organize our moments greatly determines how satisfied and happy we are.

Gestalt Therapy, combined with the Enneagram and other process-oriented therapies, offers me a comprehensive approach towards this aim by bringing the actuality into the lives of my clients. Through increasing awareness, I help them strengthen their embodiment (the experience of energy in their body) and contact (the knowing of what is “not me” through the five senses). I also help them recognize the meanings (roles and games) by which they currently live. In this way my clients establish a clearer sense of themselves and their surroundings – and most importantly, how they get in the way of life’s natural rhythm and flow.

Through this careful examination of how they create their moments, I find that most of my clients invariably grow a deeper acceptance of who they are and become freer to express their authentic selves in accordance with the requirements of the moment. And this, I believe, is the foundation for true happiness and deep contentment.

Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to set up an initial appointment. In the meantime, I look forward to the possibility of our working together.
