Professional statement

Brinley Kaston is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Manhattan. She works with young adults as well as couples in various stages of their relationship. Many of Brinley’s clients come in to address the stress and anxieties around life transitions and adjustments. Her clients are looking to feel more confident and secure in their goals, both personal and professional, as well as relationships and life decisions.

Brinley is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is likely to be used in session, in conjunction with mindfulness and a client-centered approach. The use of these modalities will help a client to be more aware of their negative thought patterns and triggers. Ultimately, those patterns will be explored and reworked into more positive and productive action and thinking. In session, Brinley may recommend journaling and/or meditation, if it feels right. Brinley’s approach supports clients to feel more confident and grounded in their choices.

Brinley’s style is active, warm, and fun. When clients first start therapy, she will work to understand the client’s past history and set goals together.

Brinley received her MSW from NYU Silver School. She has worked at community based mental health clinics, group practices and in the non-profit sector. Brinley’s previous work at Helen Keller Services for the Blind served a population of individuals adjusting to a visual impairment, which has informed some of Brinley’s understanding of grief, loss, and most significantly, life adjustments. Outside of private practice, Brinley enjoys cooking new recipes and seeing live music. Brinley is currently accepting new clients both in-person and with telehealth.

As we get older, we are often in a state of constant change where you have to learn how to recalibrate and adapt to new situations and make big decisions. You might feel unequipped for these various scenarios and it would be my pleasure to help alongside you to alleviate some of that anxiety and encourage you to find your strength. The work we do together can help you to feel more grounded and confident in yourself.
