Amanda Jurist is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with expertise in supporting clients across the lifespan. She has a deep interest in the family system, including the exploration of early life experiences for anxiety and depression relief, building parenting skills, and modifying behavioral challenges. Her goal is to empower each client to become their own self-advocate, increasing personal efficacy at school, work, and in relationships.
In sessions with young adults and individuals in midlife, Amanda uses a primarily psychodynamic approach to help clients illuminate the ways in which their past influences their present. Many clients come to her office when they are experiencing overwhelming emotions of depression and anxiety or are facing times of uncertainty. Amanda gently guides a close inspection of where those feelings originate, tracing their roots to the destabilizing effects of an unpredictable childhood, and allowing clients to invest renewed control in their future.
Amanda also welcomes parents and young children to her practice and is particularly skilled at supporting families to successfully navigate a child's learning differences within the context of a school system. With offices located conveniently located throughout Manhattan, Amanda is excited to help clients of all ages set up for greater future successes.
