Dr. Philip Bender is a Clinical Psychologist who welcomes adults of all ages to his remote therapy practice for clients in New York. Dr. Bender specializes in working with young adults as well as creative professionals of all kinds, and his clients' concerns include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, existential concerns, and stress or trauma related to their family of origin.

Dr. Bender enjoys helping clients develop deeper self-awareness in order to understand their emotional and interpersonal struggles. He often utilizes mindfulness in sessions, and encourages his clients to implement this approach in their lives both inside and outside of the therapy room.

In addition to individual sessions, Dr. Bender facilitates a therapy group for young adults that emphasizes building connections and understanding interpersonal patterns. He looks forward to meeting you.

Therapy for me is about accepting the hardest parts of life, the losses and disappointments that we all face. My goal is to provide a safe environment for you to be your most authentic self and start building the life and relationships you want.


Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)

Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life

Relationship issues - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating

Young adults - Specialized strategies for common issues of young adulthood, including school and career stressors, support around healthy relationships, existential concerns, drug or alcohol issues, and anxiety and/or depression

Creative professionals - Understanding of highly creative minds; goal setting related to the artistic and creative process; support finding meaningful balance in one’s life

Grief - Emotionally preparing for the anticipated passing of a loved one; managing feelings and reactions to a death or loss of significance; support during the process of healing and acceptance
