Professional statement

Christen Meyer is a therapist in New York who helps individuals struggling with anxiety, grief, stress, and life transitions. She also provides specialized support for anxiety around COVID-19, navigating its effects on relationships, career, hygiene, and self-esteem. In her practice, Christen offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore clients' complex, multilayered emotions. She works to assist clients in identifying goals, and offers a range of therapeutic approaches to achieve them. Her approach is flexible, and she often incorporates art therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based stress reduction.

Christen is a New-York State licensed and board-certified art therapist. She has practiced in a variety of setting including outpatient programs, homeless shelters, and private practices. She completed a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Intensive Training with Megan Dunston, LCMHC, and an intensive 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program. In addition to being a primary therapist, Christen is also a wellness coordinator and training facilitator.

Christen offers teletherapy sessions to residents of New York State through a HIPAA compliant, secure platform. She encourages anyone who is looking to learn tools to navigate these emotions, find a balance, and be their best self to reach out.

One thing to know about me-I value the therapeutic relationship. I adopt a humanistic approach when working with clients (I am human and I make mistakes too!). My ultimate hope is to be able to work with my clients through a confident and comfortable rapport.
