Professional statement

Christene Murphy is a classically trained Freudian Psychoanalyst.

The following will give you insight as to the depth of Christene's work in the field and in the institutions that support that work, i.e.

Faculty, Training Institute for Mental Health: Teaching seminars, i.e., Psychoanalytic Concepts of Technique and Adult Stages of Development: Psychoanalytic supervision of candidates-in training.

Representative of the Candidate Committee of The Council of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists, N.YC. Chapter.

President of The Psychotherapists Council, Training Institute for Mental Health.

In addition to what you just previously read, it is equally important to understand the professional degrees that Christene has and with the particular organizations and timeframes.

Master of Social Work, Fordham University, September 1991

Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, Training Institute for Mental Health, June 17, 1997

Certificate in The Supervision of The Psychotherapeutic Process, June 29, 1999

As a result of her training in psychoanalysis her technique is essentially psychodynamic. Christene asks questions and looks forward to working closely with her patients to understand why they are where they are today and how they got there. Part of her approach with a patient involves keeping them abreast and educating them in the process, so they will be able ultimately to analyze themselves.

Christene's patients have come from around the world and in the neighborhood. She works with men and women in their early twenties through their mid-forties. In the last 30 years, Christene has worked with a substantial number of patients who are senior level executives in major corporations. In addition, she has extensive experience with patients whose cultural backgrounds are Hispanic, including North and South America.

Christene's office is located in the East Village, NYC. Her office is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:00pm to 8:00 pm. In-person sessions only.
