Professional statement

Edouard's goal of therapeutic practice is to address inflexible thinking and help my clients become “unstuck” from whatever life issues have them bogged down. His practice most often combines methods from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with mindfulness and self-compassion. This is to address the root of a client's difficulties while also managing any immediate issues that intrude on daily life. Edouard integrates techniques from various therapeutic approaches to provide the best, most personalized care possible. He also seeks to create a therapeutic environment where the client is very much in control - he wants his clients to feel acknowledged, understood, empowered, and respected when in the counseling space.

Message to clients

I believe that best work done in therapy is collaborative, with both of us working together to learn and understand the client’s thoughts and feelings. I believe this work can be challenging, and sometimes unsettling when delving deep into our long-held beliefs. But I feel that this work, when done thoughtfully and intentionally, is greatly empowering. Lessons we go over in-sessions will not only help to solve immediate issues, but further equip the client to tackle future, similar issues with greater confidence in their ability and the skills to do so with greater ease. Having grown up and worked in a cultural melting pot, I also believe in the importance of practicing with cultural competence - acknowledging and uplifting the unique nature of each clients’ ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, I strive to extend this competence to considerations of sexual and religious identity as well, accepting and empathizing with all clients, regardless of any beliefs or identities.
