Professional statement

Elizabeth Nigro is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has a private practice in Westchester, New York. The majority of her clients are women who share a Christian faith, and a large portion of her work supports equipping mothers for motherhood or helping single women discern the calling God has for them.

Elizabeth often works with clients who feel overwhelmed or depleted, despite functioning quite well. They might be struggling with setting loving boundaries, creating rhythms that support their lives, or taking on too much – which can result in anxiety, people-pleasing, and overwhelm. Elizabeth's work with her clients includes helping to reduce this overwhelm, and connect back to their faith – prioritizing it – and figuring out how to take good care of both themselves and their family. Most of Elizabeth's clients are successful, nurturing, and compassionate, but have a hard time understanding their own needs and are finally ready to learn why.

Elizabeth's approach is rooted and guided by her Christian faith. She pairs that with a depth-oriented, practical, and holistic approach, examining the whole picture of a client's life and considering all the factors that contribute to their mental health so they can get to the root cause.

Elizabeth knows that we don't always get it 'right'; however, it is her hope is that through her work with each client, they can begin to look outside of themselves, feel more whole and become more and more of who they were created to be. She looks forward to being a part of your journey and helping you get started!

Message to clients

Finding a therapist who you feel a connection to can be as important and hard as the decision to begin therapy altogether.  It’s so important! Therapeutic fit is the best predictor of therapeutic outcome so I hope that as you slow down and read through this you will have a better understanding of my approach and style.

My approach is depth oriented and holistic. I look deeply at what is brining you into therapy and what will help you feel complete and ready to end. I look at the whole picture of what’s going on in your life not just the symptoms you present to me. I want to illuminate and bring healing to what’s underlying by getting to the root cause of what’s out of balance for you. Through addressing all of the pieces to the puzzle, I can help you make pivotal shifts and lifestyle changes so you can find wholeness again.
