Jacob has over 16 years experience with people who suffer from a variety of mental health concerns from depression and anxiety to severe mental illness for children and adults and families. He graduated with a masters degree in 2007 from Yeshiva University Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and obtained his state license for Mental Health Counseling LMHC in 2010. Jacob was worked in many mental health programs including psychotherapy clinics, multidisciplinary mobile mental health treatment team called an ACT team for six years. He as also worked with the NYC school system working in many schools both public and private with school aged children for many years helping children to provide them mental health supports in their schools or homes. Prior to offering psychotherapy at Vita, Jacob worked as a childhood, adolescent and adult mental health consultant for the Administration for Children's Services for NYC, helping ACS staff on active child welfare cases with families in Brooklyn NY. He finds it challenging, meaningful and rewarding offering psychotherapy to young people and making a difference in the lives of my clients. Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Stress management - Strengthening effective ways of coping with the stress of life and change; managing expectations of self and others
Suicidal ideation - Support living with intense pain, distress, and feelings of persistent hopelessness; strengthening meaningful relationships and experiences in one’s life
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Mood disorders - Clinical depression, persistent depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders that cause disturbances in the client's mood, causing mood swings, restless sleep, and/or elevated mood
