Laura Federico is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering online sessions to college and graduate students, adults, and parents. She specializes in self-worth concerns, the mind-body connection, and providing a sex-positive positive approach to intimacy. After working and living in New York, Turkey, and Switzerland, Laura provides unique support and perspective to those living, working or studying outside of the US, and has special expertise in working with humanitarian stress and the particular type of trauma that can be a part of the aid field.
Whether clients are coping with sexuality-related issues or questioning their purpose or direction, she is passionate about providing holistic, empowering support, and allowing clients to freely share their experiences. Laura will help to identify patterns and thoughts that are no longer working, and will ask questions to illuminate unconscious beliefs and desires.
Laura takes a collaborative approach to therapy, drawing upon modalities that fit the needs of each unique individual. Her approaches include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), and Holistic Sex Therapy. She incorporates journaling and art as additional creative outlets for each client to share and express experiences and feelings. Laura works with clients in New York and throughout Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Laura provides trauma informed, culturally sensitive services.
