Professional statement

paul singleton iii, LCAT ATR is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist based in New York City. Paul was trained in Art Therapy, a modality that makes use of metaphor and symbolic language in service of the therapeutic process. Prior to opening a private practice, paul worked in hospitals, jails, clinics, and nonprofits.

Clients that work with paul are deep thinkers and spiritual seekers who need to express themselves creatively. Paul has helped clients work through major life transitions, racial traumatic stress, grief & loss, difficulties in relationships, and processing complex PTSD, among other issues. An accomplice to LGBTQIA folks, paul is certified in providing gender-affirming care.

The therapeutic approach that paul uses is Psychodynamic with an emphasis on creative inquiry. His work is informed by the latest scientific research, particularly in the fields of psychology and neuroscience. Because "The body keeps the score", paul incorporates somatic practices such as EFT (tapping) into therapy.

While on sabbatical in 2016, paul underwent a 9 month program of study and meditation practice with Pema Chodron at Gampo Abbey. In 2020 paul completed 200 hour Mindfulness Teacher Certification (CMT). In addition to working one-on-one with individuals, paul also works with groups and with couples.
