Dr. Susanna Stephens is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Union Square, Manhattan with extensive experience serving professionals and students who are experiencing anxiety, creative blocks, relationship concerns, and life transitions.

Dr. Stephens offers psychoanalytic psychotherapy to help her clients gain greater awareness of how their minds work so that they can break free from old patterns of thought and behavior that are no longer serving them. She incorporates mindfulness and emotion-focused practices into sessions to help clients feel grounded and understood. She is deeply committed to providing a safe environment where professionals and students can process their unique stories and experiment with new ways of living.

Existential crisis - Supportive exploration of meaning and purpose in one’s life; finding one’s path in the face of existential anxiety, dread, and feelings of meaninglessness

Life transitions - Coping with difficult or impactful life changes, such as moving to a new area, relationship transitions, child rearing, or career changes; learning self-care to better manage resulting stress

Parenting - Helping parents develop and implement strategies to address challenges that arise throughout childrearing; managing stress and increasing support

Relationships - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
