Recovery support groups can greatly enhance recovery and help individuals maintain sobriety. This group is made up of other people with alcohol abuse and addiction experiences who can offer encouragement and hope for sustaining recovery.
Dr. Robert Tilton is a clinical psychologist in Warren, RI with expertise in addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, existential challenges, and loss of meaning and purpose. He uses his expertise in evidence-based therapies to help clients move beyond symptoms and lead more fulfilling lives.
Dr. Tilton specializes in supporting clients as they navigate any kind of challenge in adult life, from adjustment to college, to becoming a parent, readjustment after military service, to finding meaning in older age. His expertise lies in exploring how thoughts, feelings, and behavior shape who we are and what you do. Within this framework we figure out what you value most in life to assist in guiding you to reach your goals.
Dr. Tilton has training in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for mood disorders and substance use disorders, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Tilton’s practice approach is informed by his doctoral training at Antioch New England Graduate School and as a predoctoral intern at the Yale University school of Medicine. He has provided care to veterans at the Providence VA Medical Center for the last several years, mostly recently as the Chief of the Collaborative Addiction and Recovery Services. In addition, Dr Tilton serves as a faculty member with the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
