Chaim Yosef/Howard Ackerman has been working with people for over 17 years, first in the capacity of a spiritual leader of a Jewish congregation, and now as a psychotherapist. Combining a psychodynamic background with experience and training in Advanced CBT, he identifies 2 ingredients to his clients' therapy work: 1. Psychoeducation- Learning about the nature and possible causes of the challenges that have brought the client to therapy, and
2. Filling the Toolbox- Teaching clients skills that can benefit for a lifetime.
He trained in Motivational Interviewing, and empowers his clients to own and manage their growth according to their motivation and commitment to grow.
His experience with grief has helped clients hold the space for cathartic grieving in which they can move through and manage their grief, rather than avoiding it.
Chaim Yosef's clientele are adults of all ages who want to learn to not only work through their stresses, but to thrive and feel empowered.
Validation is key, and clients report that Chaim Yosef establishes that rapport in a sensitive, warm manner, at the pace at which the client is comfortable.
His offices are located in Kew Gardens, Queens, and Flatbush, Brooklyn, and have on street parking. Chaim Yosef is also available for remote sessions.
