Professional statement

Jillian Biegel, a psychotherapist, is licensed as a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York. She believes that by learning our internal landscapes and better understanding why we do, think, and feel what we do, we can have greater compassion and acceptance for ourselves. Jillian's clinical knowledge, combined with clients' expertise on their own experiences and self, creates a relationship where one has the space to intentionally explore and learn to live from a place of authenticity and trust when life has gotten in the way.

In her work, Jillian helps individuals who might be aiming to improve self esteem, manage one's mood, address trauma, explore existential questions, examine relationships, cope with life transitions, or reconsider their use of substances and patterns of behavior in order to bring them greater awareness and help them find the tools within themselves and externally to achieve their goals.

With experience working in crisis intervention and outpatient substance abuse treatment, she specializes in helping folks dealing with trauma, substance abuse, and domestic violence. Jillian adapts evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and distress tolerance, strength and compassion focused therapeutic techniques, and supportive listening to the obstacles one might be facing.

At this time, Jillian provides confidential psychotherapy online allowing sessions to be scheduled at times around work, school or family matters to promote greater accessibility, safety and privacy.

Message to clients

For all of us, there are times in our lives when we need to seek out the right therapist who can assist us in addressing those difficulties that stop us from feeling at home in ourselves. Together we will explore strategies to promote wellness and develop resilience and strength. As a therapist I am committed to my own ongoing personal development and continued professional training and have seen how powerful and profound the breakthroughs can be when engaging in therapeutic work. Therapy is an ongoing process of curiosity that takes a willingness to be vulnerable, and this vulnerability is a choice and a strength. However, being vulnerable can be intimidating as you entrust your innermost thoughts, feelings, and experiences to someone you have just met. Curiosity, compassion, and humor allow a laidback atmosphere in our sessions. I aim to learn and honor clients’ personal history and the intersectional and ever changing context they exist within in society in order to create a space that is safe and free of judgement.
