Shari Jacobs is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults across Colorado and New York State, with sessions offered in both English and Spanish. Many of Shari’s clients come to her for support managing anxiety, depression, or OCD, processing past trauma, navigating difficult life transitions, or working through relationship and communication challenges.
Therapy with Shari is highly individualized and tailored to each client's needs. Shari frequently draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients shift their relationship with unhelpful thinking patterns, live a life guided by their values, and be more mindful in their day to day lives. Through a psychodynamic lens, Shari also helps clients to explore past experiences and relationships and better understand their impact on the present. Shari has also been trained in exposure and response prevention, an evidenced based practice for individuals with OCD. Shari's ultimate goal is to help clients better understand and move away from patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
Shari understands that starting therapy can be hard but believes that establishing a strong therapeutic relationship early on can help make the process easier. Her style is warm, supportive, and deeply curious, allowing her clients to explore the most intimate parts of themselves without judgement. She is genuinely passionate about helping others tap into their inner strengths and live fuller lives.
Shari received her M.S.W. from Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed a year-long Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the William Alanson White Institute. She has years of experience working in New York City’s public hospitals in outpatient psychiatry and primary care settings. Shari also has experience providing supervision to other social workers and students.
