Description
This 90 minute didactic group that helps clients adopt coping skills in the areas of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. A significant focus of this group is psycho-education of emotions. I teach with an attachment and neurobiological frame in mind.
The goal of this group is to help clients to expand their repertoire of emotional management strategies while learning to effectively implement these tools in their lives. Members also have the opportunity to connect with and support their peers as they learn with and from each other.
Group Therapist
Jody Kemmerer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an office in Tribeca, Manhattan. With nearly two decades of intensive training and clinical experience, she is an expert in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). Through these approaches, she helps individuals manage difficult emotions and uncover their innate resilience. She specializes in supporting individuals with trauma, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, and depression.
In addition to her expertise in DBT and AEDP, Jody is passionate about incorporating mindfulness techniques into her sessions. Her work focuses heavily on creating a stable environment, building a trusting relationship, and equipping clients with the skills to effectively navigate challenging circumstances.
Engaged and collaborative, Jody is excited to welcome young adults and adults to her practice to begin the healing process. Her office is conveniently located steps from the Park Place subway station.
